You spend a lot of time and energy planning, writing and publishing a Blog Post. But, have you ever promote a blog post? Most of us would say ‘NO’. Just writing a blog, and posting it on to your website is not going to help the growth of your blog, while promoting it would do wonders. I am not talking about promoting just your blog, I am talking about ‘promotion’ of each and every single blog post at the Micro level(each and every post written), do it would be a really effective strategy.
Today I want to talk about promoting your blog posts.
Lot has been spoken and written about promoting and marketing your blogs (as a whole) but never have i heard and one talking about the ways to promote a blog at the Micro level. After you write a brand new blog post and once you click on the publish button don’t just wait for Google.com to magically bring you new visitors. Let me describe a few post promotion activities that I engage and would recommend all the bloggers to follow. Please do also note that i do not apply all these techniques on each and every blog post, but instinctively i do apply these techniques as and when required.
1. Social Media
If you ask me about the best way to promote your blog post, out of my blogging experience I would tell you that Social Media is the best tool for the promotion of your blog post. Astounding amount of traffic for my blogs has been generated out from Social Media website like Facebook, Short Messaging sites like twitter and other social messaging sites(like Friendfeed and Plurk). I have used a number of automated tools and other personalized tools to drive traffic to my blogs. For example i can tell you that on twitter I use TwitterFeed to tweet items from my blog’s RSS feed, the more you mix it up the more effective your own automated tweets will be accepted and clicked upon by your followers. In the process to promote your blog post, be sure not to Spam your followers, if you do then you are most likely to lose them.
2. Forum Posting
When you write a post on your blog on a particular topic such as this post which is titled ‘9 Amazing Ways to Promote a Blog Post‘. After you publish the post go to forums where people are talking and discussing about ideas relevant to the topic of your blog post, there you can publish this link and hence you would get users who are interested to learn more about that Topic and also build a following for your blog.

Now, this is a process of promoting my blog post which I apply I only on selected posts – those that I think could do well on bookmarking sites like Digg or StumbleUpon. I won’t go or recommend you to go into great depth on this topic.
5. Internal Link Building
Better then promoting your blog post on others blogs and comments have you ever wondered if you could promote your blog post on your blog itself? If you have written a blog post on some topic and you remember another post closely related then do not shy away from creating an internal link to the post, Internal Link building can do wonders to your blog, especially for older posts. A great deal of blog promotion tips focuses upon promoteing your blog on other people’s blogs and sites – but a great way to promote your blog post is to do it on your own blog.
6. Pitching to other Bloggers
Just wrote a new blog post? The best way to promote your blog or any blog post is by pitching to other bloggers in your niche and there is no other more powerful a way to find new readers than other bloggers recommending something that you’ve written to people who trust them.
7. Newsletters
If you have a list of people subscribed to you for newsletters and if you feel that you have written a Key blog post then. Doing this will drive traffic but also signal to your readers that it’s a pillar post that you feel deserves their attention. Make sure that you send newsletter only for you major and key blog posts if you follow this technique for each and every blog post you publish then you are sure to lost followers as people will get desensitized to your e-mail newsletters and would report is as spam might unsubscribe.
